The Arizona Chapter of the ACP was a recipient of a 2025 John Tooker Evergreen Award for its debut program, The Great Debates, in collaboration with the Nevada Chapter. The John Tooker Evergreen Award recognizes creativity, innovation, and hard work by chapters. The ACP Great Debates debuted as a residency competition in June 2024, taking controversial topics in medicine and allowing residency teams to debate these topics with the goal of better understanding of the two sides of these controversies in medicine. The tournament was composed of preliminary round residency competitions/events at various state locations,
culminating in a championship between finalists. In 2025, the competition is expanding, incorporating both Southern California I and II chapters into the tournament.
